Hot Tub Cover Lifters

As hot tubs become more in vogue they are also making them larger and more complex. Hot tub covers also follow suit and they are larger and heavier. Covers of hot tub are indeed becoming harder to remove since they can be extremely heavy and many owners experience difficulty. As a result manufactures have had to overcome this problem and have manufactured devices for lifting the covers making it safer and easier to use.

By using a hot tub cover lifter it is now much easier to remove and replace heavy covers. Because of the invention of these lifters it probably means that owners will use their covers in the first place. Some of the new lifters use hydraulic systems or gas shockers and will easily remove heavy or awkward covers.

The hydraulic or gas cover lifter works much the same as the operating system on a car with a removable roof and will fold and lift your cover to a position where it can be stored neatly and safely out of the way. These cover lifters can be attached to the sides of the spa or underneath the spa and has two arms that are also attached to the cover and will pivot when removing or replaced it. You can also have a stand where the cover will sit when removed.

Another type of lifter uses an arm to lift and swing your cover out of the way but this requires you having plenty of room around your spa. It can be attached either directly to the spa or in a fixed position next to the spa and used a pneumatic arm. Having these devices to remove your cover can actually prolong the covers life. Lifters have become the most predominant accessory for spas in recent years.

Although some hot tub covers are light and may weight only 20 to 30 pounds before use one thing to take into account is there material and due to evaporation the covers can become full of moisture and the weight can go up to as much as 100 pounds. Trying to lift a cover like that is not only awkward but you can damage the cove if it is not supported properly. The covers not only come in different designs but also there can be a big difference in price.

Before buying a hot tub cover lifter you must take into account the amount of room you have around your spa. It is no good buying a lifter when you have a safety fence around the spa or a tightly fitting gazebo which cannot be cleared when removing the cover. Take advice as some covers will only fold in half and need plenty of room. Some lifters store your cover upright and will need about two foot of space.

Just remember that a hot tub cover is one of the most useful accessories for your spa to protect it and also for safety, and a hot tub cover lifter is an invaluable extra which ensures easy of cover removal and storage while making sure you use your cover correctly.
